Mashed Potatoes

Our tradition has always been very simple mashed potatoes made from potato flakes in a box. It takes just a few ingredients: Water, butter, milk, potato flakes. Since salt is a no-no, I use a teaspoon of garlic powder.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup 2% milk, use less for thicker mashed potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup potato flakes

Heat the water to boiling. Add the butter and stir until it is melted, add the milk and continue stirring until the mixture starts to foam. Immediately remove from heat. Add the garlic powder and potato flakes. Stir to mix thoroughly. That’s all.
